Everybody Wants to Rule the World

“I want you to say that day that I tried to be right on the war question. I want you to be able to say that day that I did try to feed the hungry. I want you to be able to say that day that I did try in my life to clothe those who were naked. I want you to say on that day that I did try in my life to visit those who were in prison. And I want you to say that I tried to love and serve humanity.” ~MLK

    Nice post, Joe.

“Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” - Martin Luther King Jr -

Nice quote, Xman…I’d never heard of that before: “conscientious stupidity.” Somehow I think I’m going to be using that a lot now to describe some people I know, but heck, they’ll probably use it to describe me, too. Hope the new year is treating you well…glad you’re still in touch with civilization…after your last few notes I imagined you looking similar to Jeremiah Johnson out there in a blizzard somewhere…

    • Xman says:

I’m sure we all resemble those remarks from time to time…but probaly not everyone tries to overcome.

Yeah, the new year has been fun.
The animals around here must talk about the “soft touch” on the hill…as I have deer, moose, a cottontail, crows, magpies and various other critters who come by for my handouts.
I may be sorry, but I may be getting close to having a bull moose take a carrot out of my hand. The cottontail stands up and begs and the magpies curse if I’m not fast enough.

Made some elk jerky that friends are raving about, catching fish through the ice in lake fremont and putting out elk trimmings for the BIG bald eagle that comes around.

The girl next door hasn’t been around lately…someone must have a bigger cup of sugar.

  3. Sounds like you’ve found a real paradise, Xman.

I’m listening to a two hr talk by Tim Leary, trying to rebalance my faith in humanity. Reading about your situation is a perfect adjunct. That, and MLK’s wise words. I’m beginning to feel much better.

    • Xman says:

      Thanks for the link, Indigo.
I just watched the great IVAW video.
Which leary vid are you watching?…there are a couple listed there.

I understand the need to balance. Sometimes I feel like the liberal version of a FOX person.

  4. Indigobusiness says:

Leary at The Stone was the one I listened to. It’s remarkably funny in places, insightful in others, and a complete ramble…typical Timothy Leary.

I heard Robert Anton Wilson visited him in prison and said it bumfuzzled him that Leary was happier than he was. Wouldn’t let being locked up steal his freedom and joy in living. That’s really an amazing thing.

What’s IVAW? I probably should know.

Mind your carrots around bull moose, and remember, it’s not the size of the sugar cup, it’s the quality of the diabetic coma. I’m betting she’ll be back.

Joe get of your butt and post something. If I can come up with one so can you. Besides I miss pulling Xman’s chain a bit.

Sorry guys…was out a week when mom unexpectedly had 5-bypass heart surgery (she’s doing great now…) then got back to work and everything had gone fubar, so been pulling a couple of 60 hour weeks trying to get things back on track, so this is the first time I’ve checked the blog in a while…I’ve gotta check the news and see what’s going on ;-) Will hopefully get back to some blogging when things settle down…but right now, I need to do some laundry!!! My jeans are all dirty and I’m down to “nice” clothes…don’t want to wear those to work…people will look at me funny ;-) Hope all is well with everybody! Miss chatting with you guys, and reading YOUR blogs, too…
