That is very well put, Lynne.

But some of us have been screaming the very same message from the virtual rooftops for a long time, and not just sitting home bitching. Even when it was dangerously against the tide, and sounded like voices in the wilderness.

The cow’s long gone, and everybody’s lining up to slam shut the barn door.

Best explanation for the way our government is being run (and that includes McCain’t and company) is this from an Americablog reader:

“For all the Bushista song and dance and singing of hymns to US jingoism, they are not Americans. They aren’t citizens of any nation in the world. They exist in a layer beyond nations, beholden to and recognizing only other extranational actors. Their allegiance is to their class, not to any country or people not of them.

We aren’t part of their world.”

So we can continue to sit at home and bitch and they will continue to run things as they always have.

All kidding aside, the bigotry revealed by this campaign has shown
the ugly underbelly of America, and it truly ain’t pretty.

If we allow racism and election manipulation to throw it to the GOP this
time, our status as a failed state will be self-evident and become undeniably
painful…even for the piggies and the blue meanies.
