There's a balance between puritanism and hedonism and in America, the pendulum seems to swing back and forth from decade to decade...swinging 20s, McCarthyism, 67 summer of love, 70s discos... I'm fine with freedom, and everybody doing their own thing in private...if that means being in a traditional married relationship, fine, or if a pair decides they want to swing...I don't condone or disapprove...it's a free country as long as you're not harming anybody else, as far as I'm concerned. As you said, we don't know WHAT kind of stress or pressure these politicians are under, or if the behavior of their spouses contributed to their actions, so I don't even despise Vitter for being a little too human. However, I DO despise him for preaching his version of morality to us while he's privately enjoying his version of immorality. He did say it was all his fault, and apologized.
