Angelina Jolie Joins Council on Foreign Relations
One of the central goals of the exclusive and mysterious Council on Foreign Relations is to “find and nurture the next generation of foreign policy leaders.”
It appears one of the world’s future policy leaders will be Angelina Jolie. The CFR has decided to admit the actress to its ranks of global foreign policy elites. Jolie, already a United Nations goodwill ambassador, has taken more than 30 trips worldwide to bring attention to the plight of refugees, AIDS orphans, and disaster victims.
The CFR was founded in 1921 by a group of distinguished scholars who had been tasked to brief President Woodrow Wilson about options for the post World War I world. The first CFR headquarters was built in New York City with contributions from the pockets of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Now the council has an office in Washington, D.C., too.
The CFR publishes a bi-monthly journal, Foreign Affairs, and has an extensive website that includes links to its think tank: The David Rockefeller Studies Program.
Founded with 108 members, the council now has about 3,700 life members. Members have included serving politicians, over a dozen Secretaries of State, former national security officers, bankers, lawyers, professors, former CIA members, and senior media figures.
Angelina will be joining the following current CFR members when she begins helping shape our foreign policy:
-
Dick Cheney
Condoleezza Rice
Robert M. Gates
Bill Clinton
Jimmy Carter
Henry Kissinger
Colin Powell
Madeleine Albright
Paul Wolfowitz
Richard Perle
Alan Greenspan
David Rockefeller, Jr.
John D. Rockefeller, IV
