Elvis at 21
Having also been born in Tupelo, I have to plug the latest exhibition of Elvis photographs by Alfred Wertheimer at Washington D.C.’s Govinda Gallery.

In January of 1956, RCA hired Wertheimer, who was a freelance photographer in New York, to follow Elvis on tour. As it turned out, 1956 was the year Elvis went from regional star to international sensation.
